A collection of local groups are supporting designating Fort Bragg, CA as a Garden Friendly Community, identifying where the community can create community gardens, educate the public about gardening techniques and benefits, and advocating for garden-friendly policies at a local level.
Bee City USA Fort Bragg
Bee City USA is a nonprofit national organization thatfosters ongoing dialogue in urban areas to raise awareness of the role pollinators play in sustaining three-quarters of the world's plant species, and how each of us can help provide healthy habitatsfor pollinators. Fort Bragg became California’s first Bee City in 2016.
North Coast Opportunities
North Coast Opportunities, Inc. (NCO) is a Community Action Agency that serves Lake and Mendocino Counties, as well as parts of Humboldt, Sonoma, Del Norte, and Solano Counties. NCO was established in 1968 as part of President Johnson's War on Poverty, with the mission of assisting low-income and disadvantaged people to become self-reliant.
Noyo Food Forest
Noyo Food Forest is a 501(c)3 non-profit outdoor education center on the Mendocino Coast, serving their community with student intern and farm-to-school programs. Their learning garden, located on the Fort Bragg high school campus, includes three greenhouses and a shade house.
Honey Hive of Mendocino
The Honey Hive of Mendocino is an evolutionary tool share for sound health. A source for Intuitive Drum Song, an ancient practice of women frame drummers connected to the Bees! Through the cultivation and remembrance of these artful skills as healing modalities, the Honey Hive of Mendocino offers sacred art for community wellbeing and the health of our shared ecology.
California Native Plant Society: North Coast Chapter
The California Native Plant Society (CNPS) works to increase understanding and appreciation of California's native plants and to conserve them and their natural habitats through science, education, advocacy, horticulture, and land stewardship.
